I live in Melbourne, Australia, i’m currently working part-time for a shipping line (shore based) and lately i’ve been spending the rest of my time trying to write a novel, which i’m blogging about as I go along.
I’m also studying to become a librarian (at a leisurely rate.)

  5. Time Will Tell.

“Have you ever used a gun before Thom?” “No.” “I didn’t think so.” She was about to tell him the safety was still on, to show she wasn’t afraid of him, when he beat her to the punchline and took it off. T...

  6. Daytime.

“Thom once your eyes have adjusted to the sunlight I want you to tell me what you can see.” The petit woman’s tone of voice told him very little about who he was to her. She was neither warm nor cold, hers was the rational intellectua...

  7. Reading To The Blind (Part 2)

Mr. Corke made a bad first impression. He had a short, rude way of addressing people, and he smelt funny, like an onion soup, which was one of Jeanette’s least favourite things. Her horrible grandmother had made onion soup when she had lived with...

  8. Reading To The Blind (Part 1)

It had been nearly six months since Jeanette had first volunteered to read to the blind. In that time she’d read for a kind old man named Mr. Gunston. He’d liked her to read what he called weird fiction. Writers she’d never heard of l...

  9. Trying to keep track of time

Thom came to in a padded cell, which actually made him laugh a little. Padded cells were the punchlines to jokes, they belonged to scenes in horror movies, they weren’t ever supposed to be a part of Thom’s reality. Does this mean i’m ...

  10. Fire.

There was an explosion at the power station and a fire broke out. It was a few miles from our house but it was a big enough bang to wake all of us. By the time the fire engines could be heard heading out there we were all up and standing out on the bac...

  11. Lights out, time for...

  14. The Creature Part 2

The line of land they were following could hardly be described as a path, yet every rock they stepped on, every tree root they walked around and every branch they ducked under felt like a hidden entrance. They passed an old oak and Lachlan experienced ...

  15. The creature part 1

Lachlan was only following Anne out into the woods because he was bored and thought it would be fun to watch her try to explain her latest fantasy. He loved his sister, she was odd and fun, and definitely had what their mother called an “overacti...

  16. No time to tell.

He looked over at the man who’d been watching him the whole time he was on the phone. My captor. The strange man with his alarming shock of blonde hair that seemed out of place with his creased older face. He must be at least 50 years old. The st...

  17. You'll kill for these bargains.

  20. Picking at the pocket.

Tim covered his face with his hands from embarrassment, unconsciously becoming the proverbial ostrich burying his head in the sand. He was in school assembly, every grade was in attendance, and his younger brother Jeremy had been selected to read out o...
