I’m just a guy that likes to write. Mainly science fiction and a little light fantasy. I also like to play video games and spend time with my awesome family.

Hello. I’m John. Please don’t make fun of me.
-
In ficly I’ve discovered a medium of writing that’s quick, expressive, and just restricted enough to be a wonderful challenge. I love it!

Writer, teacher, & hopeless romantic with a penchant for falling for fictional characters.

LMR is someone in their late twenties who has yet to figure out who they are and what they will be.
When she auditioned for Wheel of Fortune, she solicited the help of her internet peers in order to find an appropriate occupation. “Minutiae expert” and “internet loafer” were the two responses she got, and quite accurate ones at that. She ended up going with “freelance writer”, a half-lie since she hasn’t done that for years now.
Oddly enough, during round two of the audition process, “free-lance artist” was the puzzle she solved. She thinks it may have been a sign.
You can also find her at http://www.twoplayercoop.com, where she tries to remember about writing about media issues.

I lost my soul when I fell to earth
My planets call me to the void of my birth
The time has come for me to kill this game

Hey guys. What I miss?
I write my stories at 3 AM.
Ficly is nifty, you’re all cool cats.
Bring on the comments, I eat them for breakfast.
I always try to challenge myself. I often bite off more than I can chew.
I don’t rate anymore because I have concluded that I don’t know what I’m talking about. -
I’ve been writing for roughly a year.
Music, visual arts, history, literature (both classic and contemporary), poetry, film, and storytelling are all personal interests.
I enjoy Dostoyevsky and Dante, and am currently reading Virgil’s Aeneid.Rating System:
5 stars: Displays great intentionality, authenticity, and originality. Concept and craft are wedded such that each factor supports the other fully. Flawless spelling, minimal grammatical issues.
Has A Title With Correct Capitalization (not necessary for a 5 star, but highly recommended), unless not having one actively pertains to the piece.4 stars: Interesting premise and thoughtful writing, but with unexplored potential. Contains small grammar and/or spelling errors. May suffer from slight tense inconsistencies, but is coherent as a whole. Requires slight refinement.
3 stars: Mostly interesting premise and fairly competent writing, but might suffer from genericness or premise inconsistency. Quality level is that of a rough draft, with noticeable grammar and/or spelling flaws. May be mildly incoherent due to tense contradictions. Contains turns of phrase and idiomatic expressions that are unintentional and may not make sense in the context of the piece. Requires revision.
This is the most flexible of the ratings because any single aspect may be very well done, but offset by a deficiency in another.2 stars: Poor writing. Incoherent premise. Obvious and re-occurring grammar and spelling flaws. Fragmented and incomplete. Salvageable, but necessitates very heavy revision.
1 star: Writing is utterly incoherent and broken. Premise is utterly generic and borderline plagiaristic, or so crippled by poor writing that it is indecipherable. Would require such extreme revision that the result would have no resemblance to the original. Generally fails to communicate anything the author intended.

Hi, I’m Paul.
Winner of the 2009 All England Pro-Am Hikikomori Championship via Unanimous Disqualification for not getting out of bed and turning up. Currently studying for a Degree in Classics with a bit of Archaeology and Creative Writing thrown in for fun. Collector of bad films, reader of trashy vampire romance, writer of, so far, short stories and bad poetry.
Defeated the Spider-Queen of Mars in hand to hand combat for the Sceptre of D’Hash, but doesn’t like to talk about it.
Once loved a sparkly chested vampire so much the body glitter wore off.
Enjoying Ficly far more than is good for my assignment schedule.
Usually found hanging out round the northern end of Manchester, UK.

I’m open to any critiques, no need to whitewash it. I want to improve my writing and enjoy the flow of creative juices even if they go splat.
I joined Ficly to challange myself and break out of the writing box I’ve constructed over years of just “thinking about it” instead of expressing it through written word.
I live in Minnesota and love everything oriental including sushi and goldfish but not at the same time.

Read, Rate, Comment, Sequel.
That’s my ficly mantra.
Also, that’s the way I roll.
In my opinion, there’s no better compliment than offering an unsolicited sequel to someone else’s story. I think inspired, good-hearted sequels are more breathtaking than the best comments and ratings will ever be.
I joined the League of Awesome. From this point, I shall be known as the Awestruck Ambassador of Awesome.
