J. A. Keane has spent the majority of his 18 years trying to act like a somewhat normal member of modern society, but seeing as nobody else seems to be acting normal these days (which basically makes the entire concept of “normality” redundant and nothing but a bad joke (my inner Comedian-from-Alan-Moore’s-“Watchmen” talking there)), he has decided to give up on that, and continue along his path of random offbeat-ness.
When he’s not doing that, he also likes to write long-winded rants on Tumblr, miniature rants on Twitter, medium sized rants on Facebook, and adamantly refuses to use LOLspeak (as he finds it annoying, and believes that it’s a slightly differentiated (but not THAT much, really, if you think about it) form of Newspeak).
And when he’s not doing any of that, he likes to write exaggerated biographies that are intended to make him sound more interesting than he actually is.
And after all that, he also really likes to end his website biographies on a joke.

The pen is mightier than the sword. How outdated. In the 1900’s, it would have been, “The typewriter is mightier than the machine gun.” But in modern times? “The word processor is mightier than the particle-beam weapon.”
I play video games, build things with Legos, and try to kid myself into thinking that I’m mature. I love dorking around with computers and I have a strange obsession with hats – nice ones, that is, no baseball caps. My dream is to either become a Masterbuilder or a drummer, and neither seem very close. Such is life.
Since joining Ficly, I’ve come to realize that I love playing off of other people’s work, reshaping their ideas to form some coherent things. Half my stories come either from challenges or from hitting the “Random Story” button and writing a sequel (I highly recommend this, the things that you’ll find are amazing!).

I’m an over analyzing, over opinionated, naturally perky, sarcastic, lonely, wanna-be actor who thinks his art is writing.

“If people never did silly things, nothing intelligent would ever get done.”
—Ludwig WittgensteinMy name is Wednesday, and I guess you could say that for the most part that quote personifies me. If there were no silliness in this world I would die.
Unfortunately, recently I have been suffering a nervous breakdown. I don’t mind saying that here. The people who know me I trust enough, and to the people I don’t – well here’s an insight. It’s not all shits and giggles on my side of the pond. Because as much as I’d like, life is not just silliness.

and to lie sometimes on the grass
under trees on a summer’s day,
listening to the murmur of the water,
or watching the clouds float across the sky
is by no means a waste of time.

Charlie K was a single celled organism who had grown on the side of a test tube in an alchemist’s laboratory. His life was a simple one, and Charlie was not happy with it at all.
One day the Sultan summoned the famous alchemist Yakuul Kon-Zizzi.
“Zizzi You have spent fifty years and a ton of gold trying to create the elixer of life. Either you will produce it today or you will be executed.”
Zizzi had no fear because back at the lab, the elixer was complete, waiting to be tested.
What the alchemist did not take into account was the will of the single celled organism that would be later known as Charlie k.
The three microns Charlie had to cross to reach the elixer seemed like hundreds of miles.
Later that evening when the sultan was removing the head of the alchemist, a young boy only one day old felt no regret that the alchemist had to die, because with the help of the philosopher’s stone, Charlie k was born. Thanks to Mighty Joe Young for writing this!

I’m a “mature” student and part time restaurant monkey. I’m studying television production in Aberdeen, Scotland. In my spare time I enjoy writing in my blog, (www.TheBlogOfAndyG.com). I hope to one day be a writer, sadly I have very little talent.
Have a read of my stories and my blog and let me know what you think.

Hey guys. What I miss?
I write my stories at 3 AM.
Ficly is nifty, you’re all cool cats.
Bring on the comments, I eat them for breakfast.
I always try to challenge myself. I often bite off more than I can chew.
I don’t rate anymore because I have concluded that I don’t know what I’m talking about. -
LMR is someone in their late twenties who has yet to figure out who they are and what they will be.
When she auditioned for Wheel of Fortune, she solicited the help of her internet peers in order to find an appropriate occupation. “Minutiae expert” and “internet loafer” were the two responses she got, and quite accurate ones at that. She ended up going with “freelance writer”, a half-lie since she hasn’t done that for years now.
Oddly enough, during round two of the audition process, “free-lance artist” was the puzzle she solved. She thinks it may have been a sign.
You can also find her at http://www.twoplayercoop.com, where she tries to remember about writing about media issues.

Quote for today:
“I do feel honour creep upon me, and which is more, a certain rising in my flesh ;”
-from The Shoemaker’s Holiday by Thomas Dekker (in this work I came across the interesting word gallimafry, which I had not understood before…)
(This quote will soon disappear from here, better copy it if you want to keep it)

I’ve never written in english that much as I’m spanish, only the essays for English homework , so I think I’ll give it a try! English culture amazes me, my dream is to live out of Spain and to be a translater. I will probably have loads of mistakes, so tell me them all! I draw, play piano and guitar.

My main reason for joining ficly was to write, my main reason for staying is to read. I love the interaction; I love the challenges; I love finding out people’s opinions; reading their comments; looking at a piece of writing in a different way because of what someone else has said. I also love improving my own work from other’s comments, working through a dud line, recognizing styles and techniques in other works. This is just one big, hugely fun, creative writing workshop, I think.
Fantasy is my favourite genre, though my forays into that mystical world have been largely unsuccessful.
Aside from scrawling on paper I take enjoyment in piano, old witty songs, archery, physics and maths, amateur dramatics and most obviously, reading.
Most recently I’ve tried my hand at stop-motion animation, though my attempts at that are even more amateur than my writings!
