I am a twenty-three year old third-year law student at the University of Baltimore. I am also one of the lead developers for Lithmeria, a MUD currently in beta-testing. In college, I majored in philosophy and minored in religion. I enjoy action movies, especially those of the superhero variety, and I prefer country music.

    Hi, I’m Paul.

Winner of the 2009 All England Pro-Am Hikikomori Championship via Unanimous Disqualification for not getting out of bed and turning up. Currently studying for a Degree in Classics with a bit of Archaeology and Creative Writing thrown in for fun. Collector of bad films, reader of trashy vampire romance, writer of, so far, short stories and bad poetry.

Defeated the Spider-Queen of Mars in hand to hand combat for the Sceptre of D’Hash, but doesn’t like to talk about it.

Once loved a sparkly chested vampire so much the body glitter wore off.

Enjoying Ficly far more than is good for my assignment schedule.

Usually found hanging out round the northern end of Manchester, UK.

I’ve been a fan of reading books since childhood, and dreamed of writing them myself just as long. I’ve always had a rich, fertile, overactive imagination, though in recent years it has stagnated somewhat. I tried and failed multiple times to start stories that I hoped would “lead me to the big-time.” I’ve realized since then that trying to do such was unrealistic at best.
Anyway, my writing skills have rusted a fair bit since I last got a lot of use out of them, around my high school years. I’ve been trying to pick writing up again, now mostly just to keep the dream-filled fields of my mind satiated. I found this site through makeuseof.com. I’ve been part of things like this before, the one I last took a large a part in being one of AOL’s personal message boards in the mid-to-late 90’s. There was one like this there that I was on frequently. I hope to be an active participant here, so please bide with me as I shake the dust off. Also, if I’m stepping on any toes, please say so. Anywho, salutations!

    Chimney falls and lovers blaze
    Thought that I was young
Now I’ve freezing hands and bloodless veins
    As numb as I’ve become
    I’m so tired
I wish I was the moon tonight
Last night I dreamt I had forgotten my name
‘Cause I had sold my soul but awoke just the same
    I’m so lonely
I wish I was the moon tonight
God blessed me, I’m a free man
With no place free to go
    I’m paralyzed and collared-tight
No pills for what I fear
    This is crazy
I wish I was the moon tonight
How will you know if you found me at least
‘Cause I’ll be the one, be the one, be the one
With my heart in my lap
I’m so tired, I’m so tired
I wish I was the moon tonight

“Difference is a blessing, not a challenge. We define ourselves by knowing other people. We know our world by learning about difference. What is the word we often use? Tolerance. Is that a positive notion? Not really. ‘For the time being, I will tolerate you?’ I’m against that concept. It means difference is a threat. Difference is a blessing and you don’t tolerate a blessing. You embrace it.” — Mohammad Mahallati.

If you met him on the street, Miles would probably seem quite tangible. This is a common misconception, and the writer would like to gently remind the reader that he does not actually, as such, exist. And also calmly suggests that you should probably discontinue the practice of talking to your hallucinations in public.

“I am a writer, and I will write the words that change the world. Because of me, the world will be changed. But I will not be remembered, nor do I long for such. Because somebody had to write them, and it didn’t have to be me.”
