There’s not much to say about who I am, however like most here my passion is writing.
I hope to improve my vocabulary and skills in English to one day, hopefully, be able to put my ideas into words in a way I’m proud of.

Australian, born in 1977, possibly human. Haven’t written fiction in a long time, but “Zerrakhi” was a character name I used back in the day and I’ve always liked it. I dabble in creativity of all kinds.

I want to be a high fantasy writer like Marion Zimmer Bradley or Anne McCaffrey. Unfortunately, I seem to be a spiritual fiction writer, but only for off religions. I find that my writing pours from me and I can go back and read it and have no clue what I had written till I do! When it’s forced, I can tell, and I think everyone else can too. I have an obsession with finding the right wardrobe, doorway, shadow to side step through. Faery is there, a place where all things are real, Gods are people, legends are Gods and the more people believe in them, the more power they have in reality. I hope you enjoy my stuff, even if you don’t believe. Just cause I don’t believe in faery, doesn’t mean it isn’t there, just means I can’t see it.

Old bio boring. New bio commencing:
At some point, I figured out I like to read. First books of importance: The Chronicles of Prydain by Lloyd Alexander in the 5th grade. I specifically asked to stay inside during recess to read them. Next came the Shannara series by Terry Brooks. Of those, The Elfstones of Shannara and The Druid of Shannara are my favorite.
Later, I discovered I have an intense love for science fiction and Orson Scott Card, which culminates in Ender’s Game. I own several copies and I’ve read it at least a dozen times. Starship Troopers by Robert Heinlein and Foundation by Isaac Asimov were also inspiring. Dune by Frank Herbert occupies a place in my mind second only to Ender’s Game. Probably my favorite books begin with Ender’s Game, Dune, Starship Troopers, and the Shannara series, in that order.
I write primarily in science fiction and high fantasy.

“Stand back! I have a keyboard and I’m not afraid to use it.”

This site is totally awesome. I really enjoyed ficlets.com (where I went by my alternative handle of kjaneway), and I thought that it was a great shame that the decision was made to close it.

However, one of the useful things was that everything was Creative Commons licensed, so though the site itself went away, we didn’t lose the explosion of creativity it generated.

And now we’re back; hopefully, to be even better than before.

So, you want to know about me:

    1. I really, really hate describing myself, especially in little textboxes
    2. I got into writing via fanfic, mostly playing with lesbian subtext in sci-fi shows
    3. I like correct spelling and use of punctuation, and good grammar
    4. I adore the limitations of the ficly format, and won’t post unless I’ve hit the magical 1024 characters
    5. I can’t remember a time when I couldn’t read, and I think life without the creative arts wouldn’t be worthwhile
    6. I hold an honours degree in Chemistry

I don’t comment as much as I should. My somewhat low standards prevent me from offering proper criticism, sometimes, and when I enjoy a story I typically enjoy it for the story. Pointing out flaws in your work may aid you in perfecting your skills technically, but they rarely make the experience more pleasant for me personally. I am aware that this is a selfish reason for commenting so little and I’m working on it.

That said, I greatly appreciate all comments and criticism. Though I tend to focus more on the story and less on the skill of other writer, I lack confidence and seek always to suck less.

Hi, dear reader. I am the publisher of the completely random “When the clock struck four…” series of short stories. They are all interconnected and will come to a great conclusion. I am a very small contributor to “The Happy Goat” series by the author “Shorts”. In that series I am currently writing “The Happy Goat Bible” and “The Birth of the Happy Goat”. I in no way intend to offend those who read my stories, and will never produce one of those dirty little sex stories which seem ever popular. They remind me of Twilight, another one of my pet hated things.
    Cheers,

The pen is mightier than the sword. How outdated. In the 1900’s, it would have been, “The typewriter is mightier than the machine gun.” But in modern times? “The word processor is mightier than the particle-beam weapon.”

I play video games, build things with Legos, and try to kid myself into thinking that I’m mature. I love dorking around with computers and I have a strange obsession with hats – nice ones, that is, no baseball caps. My dream is to either become a Masterbuilder or a drummer, and neither seem very close. Such is life.

Since joining Ficly, I’ve come to realize that I love playing off of other people’s work, reshaping their ideas to form some coherent things. Half my stories come either from challenges or from hitting the “Random Story” button and writing a sequel (I highly recommend this, the things that you’ll find are amazing!).

My name is Wednesday, and I guess you could say that for the most part that quote personifies me. If there were no silliness in this world I would die.

Unfortunately, recently I have been suffering a nervous breakdown. I don’t mind saying that here. The people who know me I trust enough, and to the people I don’t – well here’s an insight. It’s not all shits and giggles on my side of the pond. Because as much as I’d like, life is not just silliness.

in winceyette, my hair plaited, and you
listened, you soothed me like cakes and milk
you listened to me for three days, and I poured

at night we slept together in my big bed
your shoulder eased me towards dreams…

One of the most difficult things to say to another person is, I hope that you will love me for no good reason. But it is what we all want and rarely dare to say to one another— to our children, to our parents and mates, to our friends, and to strangers. Especially to strangers, who have neither good nor bad reasons to love us.
