I love to write. One of my life goals is to write a novel, but right now work, church, and family take up most of my spare time. This site helps me scratch that writing itch that pops up occasionally.

My policy is quid pro quo. If you follow me, I will follow you. It’s as simple as that! I’m all about building the community.

Want to write something with me? Send me a note! I’m up for pretty much anything.

Stories

  1. Those Roguish Eyes

You catch only a glimpse at first, out of the cloudy corner of your vision: my bronze eyes framed by a wry smile as I regale the others at the pub with another amusing story. Your curiosity aroused, your head turns. Our gazes meet across the bar, and y...

  2. Dear Sophia

Dear Sophia, I’ll see what I can do. But I want pictures. Video would also be acceptable. Love, Santa

  3. Confusion

“OW!” the beast yelped, scrambling back a few steps. “What did you do that for?” Jessica held her fist in her hand; it pounded fiercely. “Wha- what do you mean?” she asked timidly. “You were going to eat me!...

  4. Save Us...

“How are you feeling?” “Nervous. I mean, I just got here, and pretty soon I’m going to be gone? Just like that?” “Yep, just like that.” “It doesn’t seem fair. I have as much a right to be here as anyone else. I mean, there’s barely ...

  5. Dear Grace (Mature)

  6. Bros Before Hos (Mature)

  7. Hard Rain

It was raining. I paid my tab and downed the last of the whiskey. I grabbed my coat from the rack by the door, slung it on, and stepped out into the night. This was not good rain. It was the kind you can feel in your bones, that soaks right through you...

  8. {Utopia} alternata

alternata joined the Ficly scene only a few weeks ago, but from the moment I read her first story, I knew this was going to be an author to follow. She has a style that I think is unique among the writers here. I don’t know how else to describe i...

  9. {Utopia} THX 0477

This is probably the really obvious one, but someone has to do it. THX has been with Ficly from the beginning. He was also a huge presence at Ficlets, the predecessor to this site, and I followed him there as well. His stories range from a myriad of su...

  10. A Game With Death

Arnold smiled as the beautiful young woman approached the table, her blond hair a gorgeous contrast to her dark black dress. “I think today might be the day,” she said, sitting across from him and extending her hand. Arnold took it in his o...

  11. Demands (Mature)

  12. Watchmen in Ten Words

They aren’t the superheroes you think they are. Giant squid.

  13. More Than Words

I step out onto the stage after our break, and the crowd begins to cheer. I check the set list on the floor, get the time from the drummer, and lead in to one of our more popular slow songs. I smile to myself as I sing; this one always works for someon...

  14. Our Greatest Mission

“I’m not going to lie to you, son. This is our most important mission since the Mars rovers. Hell, maybe since Apollo 11.” “What is it, sir?” the captain asked. “We need you to make a delivery,” the general rep...

  15. The Serial Killer's Creed

Peace is an illusion. There are those who would have you believe that peace is mankind’s ultimate panacea. They are either ignorant or outright lying to you. There is no such thing as peace, only the potential for violence. Think about it. Everyt...

  16. The Living Word

James removed the sterling silver Cross pen from the mahogany box with reverence. He sat for a moment and relished the feel of the cold metal in the cleft between his thumb and index finger. “The words want to live, James,” he whispered to ...

  17. The Mark (3)

Shane spread the contents of the envelope out on the floor and delved into the life that was William Bledsoe. According to a newspaper article, he was a prominent CPA with some very high-level clients, including the mayor himself, it would seem, given ...

  18. The Mark (2)

Shane made his way down the dimly lit corridor of the storage facility to number 14. He glanced up the hall to make sure he was alone and quickly keyed in the combination: 18090212. Shane had many birthdays memorized, and he couldn’t help but smile a...

  19. The Mark

Shane walked slowly around the studio apartment, glancing at the oddities displayed on various pieces of furniture, careful not to disturb anything. You can learn a great deal about a person just by observing a room. He passed the time looking, rebuild...

  20. Coming of Age: Ritual of Light

Eton could sense the feelings of awe, respect, and reminiscence resonating throughout the Mind. The other Persenian consciousnesses were gathering, wrapping around him like a warm blanket. His excitement shifted to nervousness as the thoughts of the El...

  21. Anniversary

“Do you think he’ll show this year?” Travis asked his brother as he flipped another steak. The meat popped and sizzled as the raw side made contact with the grill. Travis leaned back a little as the coals flared up, a little bit of fat dr...

  22. To Rebuild A Man (3)

“Let’s try this again, shall we?” The man helped me back into the folding chair and resumed his place at the table. “I want to be clear, Mr. Pritchard. We haven’t taken away everything from your mind, just the parts that…” He paused, sear...

  23. To Rebuild A Man (2)

“Traitor?” My mouth stumbled and fell over the word like Dick Van Dyke over an ottoman. My mind raced nowhere at a million miles an hour, desperately searching for any valid register in my brain associated with identity, with self. File not found. ...

  24. To Rebuild A Man

I awoke slouched in a metal folding chair, my mouth and throat parched. I worked my tongue around in an effort to reboot my saliva glands. Wincing, I briefly assessed my surroundings. I was in a small concrete room, its only features being a rusty meta...
