Dr. Tim’s Neurotic Rules of Ficly Life
[Disclaimer: This is not intended to be binding nor in any way an expectation of general members of Ficly, league members, family members or wearers of Member’s Only jackets]
1. Comment to Story posting ratio must exceed 5:1. Goal is 10:1. In other words, I write a story then find five others (at least) upon which to comment before writing another.
2. For every solo shot or sequel of my own material, I must write a sequel or prequel to the work of another author. If I’m going easy on myself, participating in a challenge also fulfills this requirement.
3. If someone comments on one of my stories, I go find one of theirs upon which to comment. It only seems fair, and I like to think it encourages commenting.
4. Awesomeness is the goal, always. Call me on it when I fail, please.
5. Clearly mark mature content and err on the side of caution.
6. Golden Rule remains in effect for all sequels, prequels, and comments.

I’m from Portland, Oregon and I like coffee. A lot. Much more than I like the rain.
Beyond that, I wanted to get back in the habit of writing fiction instead of reports or specifications. At least until I win the lottery.

My name is irrelevant. The only words relevant will be found in my stories. I will tell you that I am seventeen and living in Canada. Sometimes I think my words are the most beautiful creations and at other times I feel they are the ugliest things to come from a pen…or a keyboard.

“If people never did silly things, nothing intelligent would ever get done.”
My name is Wednesday, and I guess you could say that for the most part that quote personifies me. If there were no silliness in this world I would die.
However, I guess it’s not all shits and giggles on my side of the pond. Because as much as I’d like, life is not just silliness.

Rest is not idleness,
and to lie sometimes on the grass
under trees on a summer’s day,
listening to the murmur of the water,
or watching the clouds float across the sky
is by no means a waste of time.

J. A. Keane has spent the majority of his 19 years trying to act like a somewhat normal member of modern society, but seeing as nobody else seems to be acting normal these days (which basically makes the entire concept of “normality” redundant and nothing but a bad joke (my inner Comedian-from-Alan-Moore’s-“Watchmen” talking there)), he has decided to give up on that, and continue along his path of random offbeat-ness.
When he’s not doing that, he also likes to write long-winded rants on Tumblr, miniature rants on Twitter, medium sized rants on Facebook, and adamantly refuses to use LOLspeak (as he finds it annoying, and believes that it’s a slightly differentiated (but not THAT much, really, if you think about it) form of Newspeak).
And when he’s not doing any of that, he likes to write exaggerated biographies that are intended to make him sound more interesting than he actually is.
And after all that, he also really likes to end his website biographies on a joke.

I am working on a novella about Sherlock Holmes and Watson from the point of view of a third person omniscient narrator.
I also have in full draft form a bittersweet story of genderqueer net friends: their proposed first meeting abroad and their beautiful relationship, and how the friendship eventually ended. I would value your comments on either or both stories.

Hey! I’m Racing, so yeah, call me that. I’ve missed you guys and writing my favorite stories so much. All the people on here are such great writers— I’m glad to be reading stories by them again! It’s really good to be back… I’m going to attempt to be on lots, though sometimes it’s just not possible. A lot of you old Ficlets writers probably don’t remember me. I’m not as famous as, say, Elsha, or THX, or any of the other various celebs. I’m just… Me. :)
My Old Ficlets Account:
Yeah, it’s so good we had to call it something. But I still can’t tell you what it’s about! Read on, Ficlyteers! The main character is Carlie, and because I like that name, she is named after the girl in Teenager.
Just a bunch of teenagers that are supernaturals… You need to read it to get what it’s about.

Goals as a commenter:
1. Comment/Ficlet ratio = 5:1
2. Provide consistent feedback
3. Provide feedback to lightly commented ficlets
4. Comment on unfinished drafts.
Goals as a writer:
1. Fully convey an emotion or idea (don’t force the reader to read a prequel or sequel to enjoy the writing)
2. Explore diverse formats (human interest, comedy, horror, sci-fi, fantasy, etc.)
3. Original Work /(Sequel + Prequel + Challenge) ratio = 1:1
4. Crowd-source writer’s block – publish unfinished drafts.

Ello, I’m 15. Iris is the name I like to be called, and I love to write about everything dark in my life to turn it into something beautiful. I’d like to believe that I’ve been in love or something like it, but I have especially felt a lack of it. Much of my life was drenched in darkness that I’ll never be able to forget; I am young, but I feel so tired and as though my life has been so long and black. But, tis in the past now, and all I can do is keep living and hope that one day things in my life might change for the better. I am a proud supporter of gay rights and human’s right to believe how ever it is they wish.
I love writing, music, books, anime, and stimulating conversation. My name is Iris and I am alone.

I dabble a little in a lot of things — writing, webcomics, gaming, photography, web design, music, and more. I’m a full-time code-wrangler and a part-time farmer with 40 acres, a lot of animals, and far, far too much to do.
