This time, it’s mostly Jason’s fault. He’s the one who convinced me that we couldn’t just leave well enough alone. He got the designers to donate their time, and wrote all the HTML, CSS and 95% of the javascript. I did the models and controllers. Nope, we couldn’t just let it go. We had to try it again.

After the great ficlet apocalypse, I (like many other survivors) went underground, waiting for the day when we would rise up and take back that which taken from us. During these dark times, I was known only by my evil codename: “The Fist”.
I love Ficly-sized stories. They are like the little stuffed mushrooms at Olive Garden, quick to eat and you always want just one more… -
From Wikipedia:
Russell “Rusty” Awkward was born in 1934 in New York, NY, the son of Michael and Elena Awkward. From a young age, he showed an interest in the Broadway musicals his father acted in and his mother costumed for. At the age of 18, however, he rebelled against his parents and their industry of choice by writing the one-act play Pay No Attention To The Man In Front Of The Curtain, a biting critique of Broadway.
At twenty-one, leaving New York for Los Angeles, he disappeared for two years, the events of which went unknown until the 1971 autobiographical novel Midwest Purgatory: A Stalled Travelogue. After finally arriving in LA in 1958, he wrote and produced a string of plays which received moderate critical acclaim but poor ticket sales before disappearing into obscurity. His current location is unknown.

A former Ficleteer. Now, I am a Ficly acolyte – a Ficlyte, if you will. (You can thank uselessness for that term!)
Spread the word, brothers and sisters! :-D

I’m Erik Chevalier, curator of the short fiction webzine Burst Fiction. Started the site with the help of Ficlets writers and now hope to find great stories on Ficly. If you have an original story you feel would work for our site please send it along to me.

Byn is a 19-year-old girl from New England. She has been writing for 7 years, and although she prefers to write fanfiction, she has been known to write a decent amount of original work, as well—especially in the area of science fiction. She hopes to someday publish her work, but until then, she is more than happy to share it for free. She is hopelessly addicted to Twitter, and her sometimes-excessive Tweets can be found here.

While working at AOL, I was a part of the team that built Ficlets along with Kevin, Cindy, Jenna, and Ari. When AOL decided to shut our baby down, I contacted Kevin and got the ball rolling on Ficly. I’m more a musician and photographer than an author, but I love storytelling and the art of writing.
We continue to have a ton of fun working on this site and building the community, so thank you all for participating and let us know how we can make it better!

“Stand back! I have a keyboard and I’m not afraid to use it.”
This site is totally awesome. I really enjoyed ficlets.com (where I went by my alternative handle of kjaneway), and I thought that it was a great shame that the decision was made to close it.
However, one of the useful things was that everything was Creative Commons licensed, so though the site itself went away, we didn’t lose the explosion of creativity it generated.
And now we’re back; hopefully, to be even better than before.
So, you want to know about me:
- I really, really hate describing myself, especially in little textboxes
- I got into writing via fanfic, mostly playing with lesbian subtext in sci-fi shows
- I like correct spelling and use of punctuation, and good grammar
- I adore the limitations of the ficly format, and won’t post unless I’ve hit the magical 1024 characters
- I can’t remember a time when I couldn’t read, and I think life without the creative arts wouldn’t be worthwhile
- I hold an honours degree in Chemistry

Jean is an aspiring writer, web designer and sometime virtual assistant. She also knits, is a whiz with a glue gun, and is learning to sew and play bass guitar. With two novels in the revision stage, she’s a busy, busy gal. Her husband and their pets, an energetic chihuahua and two rowdy cats, keep her grounded, lest she spend too much time with her head in the clouds.
Most of her old ficlets c an be found at http://ficlets.ficly.com/authors/jeanjeanie . The rest are hiding out at http://jmbauhaus.livejournal.com/tag/ficlets .

I write things. I design things. I am also a co-founder of Gameplaywright Press.

Ohh how I’ve missed this. This site gave me the motivation I always needed to write and I’ve missed it horribly. By day I work for a newspaper, by night, I delve into the world of CherryPop McGee and assorted Zombies. I’m writing her story, which got it’s start in this community, online and hope to self-publish when it’s all done.
Am also a big fan of AudioBoo (audioboo.fm/profile/Melia) and because of the awesome creative commons licensing here, I hope you don’t mind if I occasionally record an audio clip of your Ficly :) I will, of course, properly credit you.

Beneath the regular writers sits a young girl, pen trembling in her hand. She tries to put words on paper, but nothing comes out but painfully choppy verse. She drops the pen, looking up at the regulars in their creative glory. She sees many people she’d take a bullet for, but cannot stifle the envy toward. She remembers when she was a shining example of what a writer should be, but that time is long since gone. She lays her notebook down and draws her legs under her, praying for inspiration.
Feedback makes my heart race.
If you don’t like the limit, go to Protagonize.

Hello everyone! It’s wonderful to be amongst so many creative minds. Thanks to everyone who brought this dream to life and to those who keep it going. I have been with Ficly for a long time, back when it had a different name. Those stories are in my graveyard.
Who am I? I was going to be a great artist, but that was kindergarten. Since then, my left brain has taken over, the lockstep drudgery of life having dulled my senses. I have not learned how to write, but I must try. I must try to free my soul. -
I’m a writer by no means. I do not think it was ever my strong point. But I come up with cool scenarios in my head sometimes, and I feel the need to put ‘pen to paper’ so to say. I write what comes to me and what interests me. Most importantly, I take my criticism constructively because there is no better way to improve my skills than by listening to those who have a bit more merit in this area. Also, I’m straight up geek. Cheers kids :D

Another one of the refugees from the old Ficlets site. See my old FICLETS HERE!
Not much to say about me really. I write. I play music. I write music. And I enjoy reading Ficly-Stories.I’ve been writing since high-school – which was so long ago, we walked to school in 4ft of snow with no shoes on and bread at the store cost a penny… ok.. .25 cents.. but i was able to get 10 candies for 5 cents.
SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETED AND WON NANOWRIMO 2008, by writing a novel over 60,000 words long called: Amethyst: Outer-Rim based on a ficlets series written here!
I’ve been bestowed the great honour of being part of the brother-and-sisterhood known as: The League of Awesome. Henceforth I shall bear the monicker: The Master of the +10 Guitar of Awesomeness!

I work for a technology company. I’m the primary designer. However, I’ve aspired (for a while now) to write. And I finally have an outlet for my small bursts of creativity.

Just another procrastinating writer from Scottsdale, Arizona, working on a couple of books & a few short stories. In my spare time, I work at Verizon as a consultant. I first read about ficlets through Scalzi and Wil Wheaton’s blogs. Cool that it’s back online & out of AOL’s deadly grasp.
