This challenge has ended!
I used to be on this site a loooooooooooong time ago. By the name of Wednesday [PJ] ((LoA)) and Conjoiner, Rejoinder, Poisoner, Concealer, Revelator [[Wednesday]].
I kinda had some kind of feverish dream for a challenge which might not write particularly well.
So, sequels and prequels are awesome right? How about a non-linear chain!
Say, one person writes a story. The next person writes a sequel. Then someone prequels the sequel, then another person sequels the prequels.
Does this make sense? I’m so rusty! My challenges were famed I swear!
I just wanted to celebrate this reconnection to a group of people who are mostly gone. They were my family, and I hope the new generation are just as wonderful!
So! Dr. Tim’s is the winner simply because it spawned the most story.
I loved Janet, Sonata. You made a great character there.
Sorry for the brief nature of this.
Yep, confirmed. After you click the “Write a Sequel/Prequel” link, add “&challenge=1337” to the end of the URL.
Also feel free to start a new thread!
I contributed! I thought I’d be the first to prequel, and it’s hard! But well worth it :)
Ok, I was a bit confused at first. Now I see the challenge. hummm. Might try a sequel but I’m not brave enough yet to attempt a prequel
Entered a starter and threw on a sequel to get things rolling on the work of Sonata Green.
I’ve set the end date back a bit to allow for this.
Speaking of thinking ahead: the start-of-chain stories need to be published well before the deadline, so that *equels have enough time to get in.
Well I didn’t think that far ahead! Leave it to the tech people for that. I’ve never claimed to be one. I thought of having two winners. or a series. Say, the best beginning, the best contributor, and so on.
I don’t know how to test this theory, but manually editing the HTTP GET parameters might work, e.g. http://ficly.com/stories/new?sequel=38550&challenge=1337
It’s a dimension-tripping extravaganza in the making. Word of warning: it is not easy entering a challenge while also making it sequel/prequel an existing story. I once ran into this obstacle in one of my own past challenges. Let me see if I can dredge it up.
So, the challenge could work with a two-fold aspect to it. You get credit for starting a thread, then you can only win if you also contribute to this stair-step sequeling of another thread. Let me percolate an idea or two, and I’m all over this.
Want to join in the fun? Of course you do!
