Murder Ballads – a wonderfully bleak and melancholy reflection on love, hate and murder – an old invention, recently repopularised by the likes of Nick Cave.
What is a murder ballad? Well see here for starters: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Murder_ballad
So write me a murder ballad, make it dark and delicious, romantic and gruesome, passionate and murderous!
They met on the hill – dark, stormy and wet,
Shared a passionate kiss: they haven’t found her body yet…
I couldn’t write my ballad without thinking about “Ode to Billie Joe” and “The Devil Went Down To Georgia,” neither of which really count. But they’re fun, morbid songs with that storyteller voice I was shooting for (no pun intended).
Actually, I’ve written two of these (well, as far as I can tell they qualify), and they’re pretty fun. Actually, really fun. Just got done with one, though, so I’m not sure it’s the time yet.
Hey match i wrote a story about nick cave and the bad seeds and noone ever read it, then i changed it to elvis and hit like twenty comments. I do love elvis but i am glad to see someone else appreciates the beauty of NCBS
Want to join in the fun? Of course you do!
