This is a bastardization of my favorite writing exercise and will require you to write four pieces. Not sure if that’s against ficlyquette — my apologies if it is.

Guidelines:
1. Write about a significant moment in your life in the first person. It should include someone else. You’re going to want to be pretty standard in entry one: set up the characters, setting, plot, climax, resolution; you know.

2. Write a “sequel” in which you rewrite the entire episode BUT start from the climax of entry #1 and write it in the third person. (not really a sequel because you’re not moving on from the moment)

3. rewrite entirely in dialogue.

4. rewrite from the perspective of the other person in the memory OR a fly on the wall. (it’s amazing the way you’ll transition from non-fiction to fiction)
