Cryptic Spam Challenge: "At a turn in the road I perceive..." What?

Every so often you get spam with cryptic and baffling subject lines. Presumably it’s to get through the spam folder, but you have to wonder what they’re actually selling. Sometimes they’re oddly intriguing and poetic.

Today I got one titled “On, and while we were yet close to it, at a turn in the road I perceive” Your challenge is to write a story based around that phrase.

Awesome, thanks for the challenge Garsecg! I really enjoyed this one, it took me a little bit to get going but the inspiration was great and led me through a few hoops of research before finishing it.

There were a couple of good entries here, but Su Sam Chen made the most creative use of the challenge, and his writing was good enough that it worked as a proper ficly and not just a nerd injoke. So congratulations!

I tried to do this in first person, but didn’t work very well. You’ll have to excuse me taking some liberty with the point of view.
