I’m taking a creative writing class this semester. The first class has already blew my doors off and I feel like sharing. I thought I’d share a few helpful quotations or suggestions that I’m given. In addition, I’m going to post prompts that I’ve been given.

Hopefully, some combination of the lessons learned and the activities I’m given will be entertaining to you fine ficly folks which frequent this fantastic site. If y’all are interested, I can do this all semester. It will be like taking a college class on writing from an incredible professor minus the professor.

Week one suggestions:
“verbally eschew obfuscation”
“honesty, tact and kindness” in critiques
“think in terms of specificity”
“begin as an artisan, end as a craftsman”

And the prompt:
“Is it by our language that we will know ourselves?”
