Nothing said I had to maintain the status quo, however. By the time that I got back to the building that she, er, I worked at, I had a plan thrown together. Going through her mind, it turned out she had been planning to rebirth my brother as a kitten and offer him to her owner in trade for her freedom. She thought that she had gotten lucky when she found out I existed. One could buy her freedom, the second of a pair of twins could be sold to provide her a pretty comfortable nest-egg to start her newly independent life.

When I arrived, he was annoyed. I knew why, he was rather possessive of her. It was why he was going to fire my brother in the first place. Apparently he had become quite infatuated with her, and her boss had noticed. Mental note, find a different fur coat to wear. The idea that my brother liked this one was a little gross…

“Nadia, where have you been?” he snapped and I couldn’t help but smirk as I changed back to my own form.

“She’ll be back in nine months, if you cooperate.”
