Start Of Something Good

“Oh my God, he’s so hot!” Shay whispers to me.

“I know. Juniors are so hot this year,” I tell her and continue watching the guys play basketball, “I bet he isn’t even gay, though.” I add.

“Who knows? Maybe he is,” Shay winks.

“Not with my luck,” I say and turn my attention back to the game, which has ended. The winners give handshakes to the losers like they’re pro’s. After they are done praising each other, one of them seems to be walking this way. I glance at Shay who seems to have also noticed.

“You were watching the game?” His voice nice and deep. I notice its me he’s talking to and don’t miss another beat.

“Oh, yeah, my friend, Bryan, was playing with you guys. We’re here for support and all,” I say trying hold back my excitement. He looks at Shay then back at me and says,

“Bryan would hate me then if I didn’t invite you two to a party tonight,” Shay and I look at each other and share our joy through our eyes and also agree with them.

“Sure,” Shay says, “we’ll show.”
