“….remember, Space Cadet, that this man was already judged guilty. That his crimes..”

That robotic voice droned on, listing the targets’ crimes and the justifications for the mission. ‘Space Cadet’ had heard similar motivational speeches before. These speeches were psychologically balanced to counteract the effects of cold-blooded murder with maximum efficiency. Hopefully, it works and the operative returns with minimal lingering mental defects.

“…your host, a convicted criminal in his time line, will be located at 51st and 3rd when you take control. From there, you…”

Each mission is given the same level of detail, the same illusion of importance, and the same weight of duty. This one was pretty low key in comparison to some of the other missions Space Cadet had completed. No double digit body counts, no horrific results, and no lengthy periods of evidence planting. Just a simple murder/suicide and back home.

“…and Good Luck, Space Cadet.”

Space Cadet downloaded into his host and got to work.
