The Kahdjinn Edana

“One of the Kahdjinn, this lithe little female is in charge of bearing gifts to those who are celebrating their birth. She has a special fondness for fire, thistles and the sweet nectar of honeysuckle blooms. She’s often called Edana, but in some lands is known by Mesha. Her jewels are rubies and amethysts as well as a single feather that shines with a brilliant white gleam – pure as diamonds.”

The illuminator paused, stretching her hand after pressing the gilt paper to shadow the India ink characters drawn by the calligrapher. She gazed at the image below the words. It was a feminine creature, indeed. The head of a cat, a body somewhat humanoid, and a tail somewhat like an arctic fox – the creature floated, sitting in midair. A flowing scarf drifted, bound to her neck, already gilded with the same paper with which she had shaded the calligraphy. A small wrapped gift box rested in her lap, and the toe of a curled toe shoe peeping out from between her folded legs. She was exquisite in a strange inhuman way.
