Warm and Cuddly

Avatar Author: Ruby Slippers "This is my letter to the World / That never wrote to Me" - Emily Dickinson Read Bio

There’s just something about a cat. Yes, they’re sometimes fickle and standoffish, but usually they’re loyal, comforting, and loving. At least that’s the way my cat, Jack, behaved. He was my best friend, the one who kept me warm at night, comforted my bad moods, and made me laugh as he chased his tail. I adopted him as a kitten, and he brought countless hours of joy to my life.

And now, his lifeless head lay at my feet, the knife I used to decapitate him still dripping blood down my arm. I had to, after all. Zombies can’t survive, not even the warm and cuddly ones.

I like the brevity of this – the immediate contrast between the paragraphs works really well!

Quite a sentiment in that last sentence as well – it reads like a motto…!

I don’t know whether you could break that first paragraph up a bit more – possibly after the third sentence you could create another paragraph.

Either way, this was really enjoyable, with just enough left unsaid… MH :)

Was it one slice or ALOT, was it quick or did he struggle? I must know please, I need a sequel…

    Good writing, RS.
Your crits are stimulating, MH, and you have certainly managed to increase my thinking about paragraphing. I like your tentativeness in this case. There are always pros and cons. Or at least sometimes.
Actually I think the main cause of our feeling of congestion is more due to the failure on the part of the establishment to allow two spaces after a stop. THAT is ESSENTIAL! Then we might not feel so compelled to start a new para with each sentence.
