Vanquishing the Gate Keeper or Nice Job Breaking It Hero

What a journey, only to end up where I started.

We were dispatched by High Wizard Marlowe to cross the ancient mountains, travel the barren plains, fight the savage hordes, and return the ancient Tomes of Na’Gulag. It was a long and bloody trail ending with success.

During the way back, we read things in the tomes that High Wizard Marlowe would have preferred we didn’t. We confronted him about the discrepancies between his words and the words of the text. He claimed us to be heroes, but the books would call us villains. Censorship at the hands of a High Wizard comes in the form of fireballs, lightning bolts, and ancient curses.

My shield was shattered by arcane energies, many of my men slain, but still I disarmed Marlowe. I disarmed him just above the elbow with my sword. A dragon appeared. More of us died. We eventually overcame the beast at great loss to our party.

“We’ve defeated your dragon, wizard.” I said.

“Fools,” Marlowe cursed, “the dragon held the forces of chaos at bay. Now, all is lost.”
