Action, Reaction

“In any case, it’s not very relevant. We’re here, we’ve got a working ship – damaged, but working,” I added at the complaints from the assembled crew, “so the question is, what do we do now? It’s crunch time. The Captain wants to know if you feel that this is worth going after, or if we should get out while we’re still good.”

I stepped back towards the projector stage, which had blanked and returned to the default rotating model of the ship.

“The Captain will shortly submit a shipwide poll, asking for your opinion on the subject. Think about your vote carefully – the deadline will be at 1590 shipboard; if you haven’t voted by then your vote will be counted as an abstention.”

I flipped the projectors back to the previous slide’s three-dimensional representation.

“The results of this vote is going to decide history. So think about it and make sure you’re damn well not going to regret what you vote for.”

The holograms vanished, the fading light met by the return of normal lighting.
