Tomorrow's Weapons, Today

Welcome to the labs, ladies and gentlemen. Here our development teams are always working to deliver tomorrow’s weapons, today – and this project is just one of the ways we’re trying to do that.

Our research teams have designed a fully functioning railgun prototype that fires 0.5mm rounds using magnetic acceleration from a removable combined energy/munitions magazine comparable to existing designs.

One magazine comprises of adenosine triphosphate packets wrapped around one 0.5mm tungsten penetrator each. The packet is unwound and metabolised; the resulting power is sent to thousands of micromonopole magnets along the barrel which propel the dart out of the barrel at speeds unattainable with gunpowder technology. As the dart progresses down the barrel the magnets used to propel it forward are also angled to prevent collision with the barrel sides, a problem that thwarted previous attempts with this technology.

If you’d like to follow me, we’ll now be going to the firing range for a demonstration!
