A Keeper

“Let’s subside now, with issues at stake. Invite the lion inside, let it dine..”

“Shut up Caleb.” I know she knows. But I can only obsess. My arm caresses her.

“You love it.” I grin. The bonnet of my heart was a mile inside inside hers. She encased the soft parts of my engine.

And so we talked about the visit we were going to take, though all I could focus on was the follicles of life pulsating under her beautiful face. I smiled. She was so beautiful.

She spoke like she understood, but the gravel we were to soak begged for answers. It was like bargaining at the Judgement Seat of God with little white lies…

“Caleb.” I’m here.

“Yes?”

I felt her embarrassment radiate from her chin. “We haven’t known each other long, have we? Do you think they’ll like you? It’s not too soon is it?”

I felt her ground shake, and I stretched my muscles trying to hold her up.

“Sure they will. When we get there darling, you’ll see.”

“Good,” she whispered. I hoped she fell asleep quickly.
