Shackled: PROLOGUE

I had promised to forget him, never worry, forget his name. But I couldn’t. “JADEN!” I screamed. “MAYA?!” His scream was hoarse, and filled with unanimous worry. When I reached the sidewalk, I was stopped by a police officer. “Stay behind the tape, miss.” I looked around, and my eyes suddenly locked on Jaden. A burly man, held him tightly against him, one arm draped around his waist, another held a knife to Jaden’s neck. “JADEN!” Jaden held his gaze, staring at me, “I’ll be alright, Maya. Forget me, forget my name, my face, forgot this night,” Tears filled his eyes, “I…I can’t come back to you Maya. I…I’m s-sorry.” I ducked under the tape, and ran up to him. “Jaden…Jaden n-” “Leave missy. I’m not afraid to take you too.” “Jaden!” “GO!” He pushed me back, right before the gun fires started, and the man’s knife sliced into Jaden’s middle.

I never saw him again. But I promised to hate that man. Hate him forever.

There’s a name I called that man…a group.

Hate them.

Hate the shameless.
