After what seemed like forever there was a pounding at the door. I cautiously walked over.
“Cate! Cate open the door.” I heard Bri yelling. I quickly unlocked the door and let her in. Once she was in I closed and locked the door again.
“Okay Cate what is going on?” she asked angrily, “I had to beg my mom to let me out. I told her you and Jared broke up and you were a mess so it better be good.” I handed her the note and tried not to fall apart again. It was completely silent as she read the message. When she finished she looked up at me incredulously.
“This is a joke right?” she said. I shook my head. “This really isn’t funny!”
“I…we were just hanging out in my basement when the power went out…when I got it back on they…they were all gone. I tried calling them, but they didn’t answer, then…someone threw a rock through the window…with the note attached. I…I don’t know what to do.” I explained to her.
