You are hereby being directed to present yourself to the National Women’s Birthing Center for physical examination by reporting to: Pocahontas National Birthing Center, Pocahontas, Iowa, 3rd floor.

“Maybe they’ll let us stay together” one said to her friends, who also received the same letter. They were all at a community picnic, a yearly ceremony for all 17 1/2 year old girls.

“My great grandmother gave birth at home” A grandmother spoke. “Was none of this 2 in 3 law. A woman gave birth when she wanted, to as many children as she and her husband wanted. It worked just fine for farmers, having a large family to farm all this Golden Cotton.”

“What happened?” one of them asked.

“Most babies grew up autistic, but it was the mothers, see. Millions of them suffered from Neophobia, a fear of new things. The babies weren’t sick, they were forgotten and dying. Now you enlist, have your two in three, and your done.”

“What is that over there!?” one of them jumped, nervously pointing at a newly planted tree.
