Hunter: This World

I drifted, my mind a scarred stage. The kind of stage that rock bands light on fire, and scream their raw emotion lyricals to thousands. Music surrounded me, a haunting guitar, an anwsering guitar that spoke so sweetly, the faint but steady beat of a drumset, the thumping base that repeated the same riff over and over… It was like heaven, but oh so dangerous. One wrong step and the rotting floor would steal you away to God knows where. It was here, on the drum riser, that I sat staring out into where the crowd would be. My wolf lounged beside me, tounge lolling out the side of her mouth as her gold eyes tracked phantom people around the arena.

We sat in silence, hearts thumping in time with the drums, breath winding with the base. The guitars sang melodies, one speaking and then the other, before joining together to restart my heart. This was peaceful. This was what my life should be, would have been if no one decided to fuck with me. But life enjoys it’s petty games, and so here we sat, my wolf and I.
