Ulysses & The Prophet

I miss the euphoric
moments we
shared in those brief
moments of
infinity.
The endless cornfields
and the babbling brooks
and the worn down paths
and the dilapidated ruins
and the sweet tea
of our fleeting
summer.

We promised to
never return
home,
to never
ever
look back,
to lose ourselves
in the gold flecks
of each other’s eyes
and to linger on each other’s
skin, planting kisses
on each knot
of each other’s spine.
