Nothing

She looked down at me with the most serious look in her eyes and I couldn’t look away.

“You don’t get it” She said, “People like us, we don’t get the fairytales. We don’t get the prince charming or true loves kiss. We don’t get to live in a world without danger with someone to always protect us. We don’t get the happily ever after.”

“Why not? Why are we so different?” I asked curiously.

“We are nothing Adyson, no one will ever love us” She said sadly. I keep my eyes locked on her and spoke with confidence.

“You’re wrong” I said before turning to walk away.

“Adyson” She said. I turned around and said the one thing I knew she didn’t want to hear.

“No Kinsey, you’re wrong, we can be loved, you’re just too fixated on that concept that you can’t see that people love you. You can have a happy ending if you went after it!” I said. She stood there in silence before opening her mouth, then closing it again, unable to find any words.

“You know it’s true” I whispered, “Because you know I love you”
