Delicious adrenaline rushed through her veins as she chased after her target up the grand staircase. The candles went out with an angry hiss as they flew past them and up they went, the shadows following closely on their tales as the lights went up in smoke.
“You can’t run from me.” She called out in a singsong voice to the young man in royal garb who was panting heavily as he ran.
“Leave me alone!” He hollered.
She charged forward, finally tackling him on the second to last landing, the candles all went out around them. She couldn’t help but giggle as she shifted to a sitting position on top of the prince’s back as he struggled & yelled obscenities.
“Oh hush, darling, you know I am not going to kill you. Yet.” She crooned as she brushed his hair out of his scarlet face.
“I will not help you whether you intend to kill me or not.” He said, his voice actually coming out strong and deep.
“I was hoping you would say that. I like a challenge. Make this hard.” She pulled out her knife and laughed in the dark.
