Valentine’s silver eyebrows rose slightly. That was the trouble with Diana. She always knew too much.
“No, I can’t say I have.”
“It’s okay, dear. You can talk to me. I have Level Eight clearance, too.”
“Is that so?”
“Don’t believe me? Shall I go get General Jacobsen? He’s right outside. I’m sure he’d be delighted to help. I think he has a crush on me.”
Valentine sipped his Godfather, wincing at its bite. “What do you know about Scriptorium?”
“Everything, practically. My father was one of its founding members, you know. Peregrine Systems has been an integral part of the project since its inception.”
“Define ‘integral part’.”
“You know our mining operations on Dionysus?”
“Let me guess. A smokescreen for the search.”
She smiled like a Siren. “What a clever little fox, you are.”
“I’ve always been good at solving puzzles.”
“You’re also good at finding things.” She handed him a manila folder.
“What’s this?”
