It doesn't always end happy

Years had passed, and yet…

That stupid therapist still ruled his life.

Desmond snorted in disgust as he tied the rubber band around his forearm, muttering curses under his breath as the others in the room squabbled over stupid things. They’d never understand, he thought. How hard it is to lose your mother when your entire family is in the military.

And then there was her.

Victoria meant well, he knew. But… God, she ruined everything. Before her… Before her…

There had been Monica.

And when there was Monica… His father was his father. Now… Now he was nothing. A lap dog. A pawn. A soldier with no happy home to come to. No… Instead there was the constant home war between his son and his wife. One, it seemed, that would never end.

“And so is the life of a super soldier,” Desmond muttered angrily as he shoved the needle deep into his pulsing vein. As he pushed the plunger, he could feel the warm feeling flooding through his entire being.

And for once, there was peace.
