Messenger: That Good Night

I blinked twice, then nodded agreement. The Master said something over his shoulder (to the Keeper, I presume, although it was in Martese or some such foreign language), and strode down the corridor after motioning at me to follow. A few steps later, the Keeper joined us.

“The Four/Nineteen cogmind decided to send Four back to inform us that on departure from the Aery they spotted the wreck of an airship about a league away. The wreck is still warm and according to Nineteen, who has the superior sense, there are warm individuals in the vicinity.

“Rokhin, inform the Stationmaster and ask him for twelve men in heavy armour and blizzard gear. If possible, we need the heaviest-loaded airship currently docked too. See to it, would you?”

The Stationmaster read the note and nodded, detailing me to get down to the guardroom and gather the men. I, in turn, seized the nearest clerk and told him to do it – I needed to change myself, and I was far less practised than they.
