“Eugene… Oh, Eugene can you hear me?” Her voice was no louder than a whisper, and yet it seemed to echo down the eerily silent corridor. The make-shift hospital was all but empty now; a shadow of a once bustling shopping mall that stood there before – a long time ago. Time had moved so slowly for her, and time had done so much…

A deep cough interpreted her thoughtful reverie. As she slowly opened her eyes, she saw those familiar, beautiful amber jewels staring back at her and she gasped with a feeling of sheer ecstasy. He was awake! She hoped this time it was real, not just a dream like the countless times before. And if it was indeed real, would he remember her?

“Are you still mine?” He asked with a low and ragged voice. Noticing the tone, he swallowed to clear his throat. “Are you still mine?” he repeated.

“I need you, Love,” she answered. “I need your love.”

“God speed my love to you, Mrs. Brown…” Her embrace taking his breath away. Gasping for air he said, “God speed!” as her lips silenced his.
