Late Late Late (Day 9)

“I’m late. I’m late. I’m late!” She cackled into the night air as she bounded across the Baquith Hills in the dead of night.

She took no note of the shadows that seemed to run away from her as she disturbed the night with her delusional ranting. Her lantern swung wildly as she ran across the fields of Fellestar.

The giant shadow of a tower finally rose from the horizon, slightly illuminated by the electric blue moonlight. She reached the tower’s doors and banged on the wood without a care of who she was waking up.

A woman wearing a blue nightgown opened the door sleepily. A man with crazy hair hidden under a lopsided top hat approached from behind her. “What?”

“I have a message from my father, The Rabbit.”

“Yes?”

“He says to tell you that he apologizes for being late to you and the Mad Hatter’s wedding last Wednesday. He had been detained by the Cheshire Cat’s son.”

The man behind the woman chuckled and mumbled something about bad timing running in the genes. The woman smiled and bade her goodnight.
