A Running Cat

She was running. Running like she was being followed by a group of Olympic thugs. She didn’t know why she was running.

It was dark, she could only make out the pavement just in front of her so she could dodge the plethora of potholes in the concrete. She ducked into an alleyway that cut through the darkened shops.

She flew through the city, searching for something but she couldn’t remember what. She felt like she was being hunted, looking for sanctuary. Scaring the neighborhood cats into vanishing into shadows as she barreled through the look-alike streets. Her wide eyes darted back and forth looking for a reason to stop.

Then she heard the music, softly wafting to her ears. Elegant Gypsy by Al DiMeola was her only thought at that moment. She sprinted towards the hypnotizing sounds.

She finally found the source which was small brick building, with the door wide open. She slowed as she reached the guarded door.

There was a man in the doorway who smiled as she walked up to him. “The Cat’s back for more.”
