We are Failing

Avatar Author: remembrancer When I discover a description of myself that rings true, I'll let you know. Read Bio

Technology has come so far
From the invention of the wheel
We dream now
Of moving without
It spinning beneath
Our metal and plastic machines

But can we realize our dream
Of flight made mundane
When we still walk on neglected ground
While the slope crumbles at our feet
With a nuclear wasteland waiting beneath

The universe is waiting
Watching
As we destroy the only home we’ve ever had
Yes
We are failing
And yes
This is a test

Excellent! Bonus points awarded for using a ‘tag team’ tag first and last. Your last line reminded me of the ‘test of the emergency broadcast system’. Not sure if that was the intent, but it’s cool either way.

It is a grave warning for us humans.

Nice thought provoking peace. I can almost picture the Native American with a single tear standing by while the poem was read. In all serious, it worked very nicely and a good use of the tags in a smooth, seamless sort of way.

I like the first stanza best; the others I find a bit self-flagellatory. But overall, good.

I like the first stanza, and how the poem connects technology with global warming/destroying our planet.
