The Door To The Cupboard We Hadn't Put On Yet

The Door To The Cupboard We Hadn’t Put On Yet leant against the wall in the living room in it’s original packaging. It could hear people in the living room but long ago gave up hope that they were there to open it’s box.

The Door To The Cupboard We Hadn’t Put On Yet could still recall a time when all it felt was joy. Listening to the other parts of the cupboard being assembled, the smooth sliding of each shelf being guided into place.

The Door To The Cupboard We Hadn’t Put On Yet wasn’t worried when it heard the shelves quiver with excitement as objects were placed on them for the very first time. It knew that it would be attached soon for the cupboard to become whole.

The Door To The Cupboard We Hadn’t Put On Yet now resented the sound the shelves made each time they were used. It knew that without protection from natural sunlight the colour would bleach. And that more dust would get into the cupboard without door’s protection.

The Door To The Cupboard We Hadn’t Put On Yet waited.
