A Thief's Surprise

Amira finishes her climb at a small balcony on the fifth floor. She waits next to the doors, listening for any activity in the room. The room sounded empty. The thief decided to press her luck and, quickly slipped into the room. It was lavishly furnished, with paintings and statues, and a Numarian tapestry hung on the wall above the bed. It was a beautiful scene, but it was of little importance to her. She carefully searched the room, leaving everything in the position it had been.

She looked every possible place, but did not find her prize. Before Amira could look again, the lock on the door began to open. The thief quickly slipped in to a large wardrobe, just as the door opened. She heard soft foot steps moving across the room, from the bed, to the dresser, and back again. A servant she thought. And when a second set of foot steps was heard, this pair had a sharp tap with each step, Amira thought, ‘That must be Lady Creeth’. She risked a peek through the crack between the wardrobe’s doors.
