“This injection,” Dr. Ludlow began, “will give you a trait from the animal kingdom. It’s completely unpredictable, and you can only get one trait.”
“What if the trait is sucky?” Bill asked. “I don’t want to end up with cold blood or a skunk’s scent sack.”
“The procedure is completely reversible should the trait turn out to be….. unfavorable.”
“Then I could get a different one?”
“Unfortunately, no. Your genetic makeup will only manifest one specific trait, repeated use will only produce the same result” the Doctor explained.
“Well, what have been some of the traits?”
“One man grew gills, another gained incredible speed, and one grew scales.” Dr. Ludlow stated.
Bill sat motionless for a moment internally weighing the decision. His eyebrows sprang up, sparking a smile across his face.
“I’ll do it,” he said.
Hours later, Bill’s enhanced sense of smell was ending his marriage.
“I know you had a MAN here!” Bill sniffed his wife, “I can smell him!”
“You’re insane Bill!” Mary answered. “Nobody was here”
She lied.
