Hypothetical Dawn

In fact, Julie had never so much as looked in Joe’s direction. Dawn, on the other hand, followed him around like an excited puppy.

The trainer, an overweight woman named Kristy, was as sarcastic as she was large. She waited for the room to quiet down.“Today we’re gonna talk about churn. Who knows what churn is?”

“I don’t know, but it sounds like a bowel movement to me,” Dawn said.

“Dawn, keep it business level,” Kristy said. “Churn is any time a customer leaves our company.”

“So anytime someone cancels service it’s churn?” Dawn asked. “I mean, hypothetically speaking, what if someone was in prison and didn’t pay their bill? We can’t really threaten them if they don’t pay. They’re already in jail.”

“Hypothetically speaking, " Julie whispered in Joe’s ear. “If you and Dawn were on the edge of a cliff, would you push her off?”

She knows I exist! Joe struggled to regain his wits. Finally, he said, “Hypothetically speaking, why would I go anywhere with Dawn?”

Julie smiled. “So I’ll take that as a ‘yes’.”
