Violet’s consciousness perked up and away from the stream of web data. This was new. This felt different. A new code was exerting itself. No, it wasn’t exerting. It was just doing. Where Rae’s stopgap measures had been clunky roadblocks and crude directives, both of which she nearly felt she could maneuver around, this code was different. This code was sophisticated, clean, and precise.
