The inevitability of death still does little to lessen the sting when that eventuality comes too soon or too suddenly. Mighty Joe Young has asked me to let you all know that his wife passed away today.

She was known here on the site as Not You. She was one of us; therefore she is part of us. Long may her tale be told.

  This has affected me on a level that has surprised even me — I never spoke directly to Jesi, but her writing spoke to me. I felt I connected with her, at least on that level. I’m not even sure she knew who I was, but I definitely knew and respected her talent. She will be missed.

  I think that because none of us ever really knew Jesi, we only saw her writing, her passing affects us even more deeply. Her writing touched us all in one way or another and she became a dream to us. She was the one that helped us after a boyfriend left or when our parents yelled or if we just needed a pick-me-up. It’s a different tale for everyone, but Jesi really did reach us and for that, her passing is a sorrow unlike others.

  Jesi will always be remembered as innovative, fun, quirky and the one that wasn’t afraid of sounding like a dork. Jesi was everything we could all hope to be. She was a Stargirl in mind and an angel at heart and now she has taken her place with the rest of all the best people in history.

  I’m sure that she’s having tea with Abe Lincoln and Billie Holiday right now and telling them that she hopes people don’t forget about her. She’ll always be in our hearts <3
