This challenge was made after having a discussion about Mexcio’s flag (the flag has an eagle with a snake in its mouth on a cactus—random, right?) and how they believed if they followed mountains, they would find water and see the image I described above.

Choose anything— pull things from your mind, from history, thoughts from novels, and folklore and let it flow through your fingers. I want the story to be written in first person, connecting with the feelings of the beliefs that this group of people (may it be a tribe a thousand years ago, or science class field trip) have within themselves.

Be sure to follow a theme and use all 1024 characters.
