Everybody has a story about something that they regret, something that went horribly wrong, don’t they?

I’m not asking you to tell that story. What I want to read is some fiction, a piece about what could’ve happened with a more desireable conclusion to the situation.

There are innumerable ways you can make this interesting, so try to avoid an old-fashioned and boring ‘they all lived happily ever after’ ending, although if it is essential to your story, then just ignore my recommendation. After all, it is your story – you’re the author.

You have the choice also whether or not you’d like to let us in on the real happening when it all went pear-shaped, which you can do in a comment if you so choose to.
