For quite some time now, my friends and I have been talking about how twisted all these nursery rhymes and stories are. I mean seriously! In “Rock-A-By-Baby” the baby falls out of a tree! And Little Red Riding Hood’s grandmother gets eaten by a wolf, and the wolf is hacked to pieces by a guy with an axe!! But my favorite is Ring-Around-The-Rosey. It’s about a fire and a plague, and in the end, when you all fall down, it means your dead. You see where I’m going with this people.
So, your challenge is to write a story about these nursery ryhmes/stories (yes, holiday legends can be used) but instead of making it sweet, expose the horrible truth behind it. Let everyone see the truth about these songs and stories our children love to sing and tell. You all have till January 10th to enter, and I hope to see many entries!!
