You mission, if you choose to accept it, is a simple one (maybe). We all know how the good guy eventually prevails in the end, despite the odds and despite the opponents. Nobody ever routed for the Empire in Star Wars, or thought James Bond would ever fail his missions. But what if somewhere, in an alternate reality, they did?

Your task is to create a ficly (or ficlies) that describe the good guy/s giving it their best shot, but ultimately falling short, and if you have any characters left, describe the implications or consequences.
