Trains and railroads are noisy, busy and well organized.

Train stations are frantic and bustling.

The tracks that run between yards are empty and lonely 99% of the time and then burst into life for a few minutes as the trains scramble or rumble or amble past.

Your challenge: craft a story around some aspect of railroads. Be creative. Be accurate, but most of all have fun.

Some suggestions:

A robbery or other crime takes place on a train.

Something important happens to someone meeting a train or coming into a station.

Hobos.

Westward expansion of the railroad historically.

One last thing – write this one as if it were for pay. Make every word count, especially the first paragraph hook.
