Sunset

And we zoomed off into the sunset.
I can remember that too. These words play such a significant role in my life. It’s all I have left of her. I think we were in high school… in our third year. We were sophomores on spring vacation to the beach. Somehow we were alone on the beach. We sat on a hill. It was dusk. The sun was setting on the beach. She stared into the waters and said, “This must be the single most beautiful thing on the earth.” I thought for a short while. “Well, last time I checked, you were on earth, right?” She laughed and squeezed me tight. “I had a dream one night. We were on a beach on a night just like this. We watched the water for a bit and then we flew away. And we zoomed off into the sunset.”
