sounds like someone is tired of being told what to do :(
honestly, this struck me as a short-sighted childish rant about how life is unfair. Might I suggest you look up Philip Larkin’s poem This be the Verse for a darker look on parent/child relationships.
@krulltar: i realize this comes off as a childish rant… but in a way it was meant to. i wanted to point out that children had a voice to… i may have been to much on one side, and i think that was a fault i decided on, but the point behind it was how parents don’t always love their kids like they should. i don’t know if that was made or not. if not then this failed, and i’m okay with that because i’m here to grow, and missteps are part of that process.
I think Krulltar’s point stands. I see where you were going, but by going with a childish voice you wind up reinforcing the view of the kid as a kid. Your point is that they should be taken seriously, so ideally you could back that up with something serious. This poem works as an expression of a pretty common sentiment growing up, even if it doesn’t succeed in convincing us fuddy-duddies to stop grounding our kids for doing the same stupid stuff we did as kids.
