If I could have one superpower
in this lonely ocean world
It would be to make you love me,
my whole life’s dream unfurled.

I remember once, so long ago
on the night when I was yours,
I felt a spark when I touched your hand
I unlocked all the open doors.

And from then on you loved me,
With undying, unfailing love.
You never left my side,
Not that I knew of.

But then one day I saw her,
so beautiful and cold.
I remembered her from long ago
From the lovely days of old.

I walked over to talk to her
and tapped her shoulder
and then I felt that spark again
and the whole world just got colder.

And later that day I woke up,
and wiped the tears from my face.
I just wish I had that power
to make you see my way.

Though superheroes don’t exist,
my love for you is real,
but sometimes it’s like I need superpowers
to make you know what I feel.
